Announcing: Comedy Night (UPDATED!)

UPDATED: The Brunei Amateur Dramatics Society's next event is coming up. On Thursday, June 4, at the D'Anggerek Apartments, BADS will be holding a Comedy Night which will be bringing a cabaret type show.

Stage performances will include a variety of people doing sketches, singing, stand up routines among others, of which most will be no more than 5 minutes. At $20 per person, the event will also include a buffet dinner (you are welcome to bring your own refreshments). Seating arrangements will be in round tables which can accomodate 11 (or 12) people.

The show will be a one night only with seats limited to 120 persons maximum so book your seats now by contacting the number or email shown above. For further information, please contact badsdrama@gmail.com.

Note: Comedy Night is an adults only night. Tickets will not be sold to students or children.

Behind The Facebook Statuses

HERE'S WHAT I SAW on today's copy of Borneo Bulletin. It quickly attracted my eyes and realised that people actually do this. Now I'm not a facebook addict. I go there once in awhile mostly just to share photos and view what my friends posted for me. Sometimes, I go there to check on BruGamers and BADS groups. But what this photo suggests is more than what I do.

See, sometimes I do see people updating their status every single moment - letting us know his/her every move. Even while driving! (confession: I tweet on the road - but only during red lights) Though I think status updates like these work best in Twitter since Facebook is cluttering application updates, but I can't help but wonder, why would anyone reveal every single step they make to the public?

Anyway, forget Facebook for awhile. I've got BADS news (get it?) for you guys but not right now. Check back here soon to be the first to know what we'll be up to. Speaking of which, if you guys aren't on BADS twitter, I think it's about time I reveal the still-in-development website.

HAVE YOU SEEN TODAY's BRUNEI TIMES? We are finally in the news - a day later than we expected but we're there. There aren't a lot of feedback, mostly reports about BADS - in fact there was only one quote from an audience while the rest were from our side. Again, we would love to hear from you guys.

I've already googled for blogs which talk about the show and so far, we are getting good responses - which we are happy to hear of course. If you have your own blog, drop it in the comments or the shoutbox so we can have a read. More photos from the show coming soon!

PARTY TIME!

INTRODUCING THE PRODUCER!

TOMORROW's THE DAY and we're done with our thousands of rehearsals - and I think you guys have nothing to worry about. The casts are excellent. The props are hilarious. Lightings and sounds are nothing short of perfect. A word of advice to all of you though, come early for good seats. All shows are either sold out or almost sold out.

Spotlight

SHOWTIME IS COMING AND WE WILL BE PUT IN THE SPOTLIGHT for you guys to watch and be entertained. Are you ready? Have you bought your tickets? Have you bought the right tickets? If you haven't, you might just be out of luck as word has it that we are sold out this year!

Maybe it's the title Macbeth? Maybe because the public now recognise BADS. Whatever it is, we hope you guys will be entertained come showtime! Just remember, this is not the actual Macbeth but a group of amateur actresses performing Macbeth on stage - or at least trying to.

Selling Like Hot Cakes

YES, AS THE PHOTO SAYS, tickets are sold out. Not to worry, this only applies to the Saturday night show. Tickets are still available for the Friday night show but it is selling really fast. So if you still want to come to the play, you'll need to contact us as soon as possible before tickets run out.

THE D'ANGGEREK LADIES GUILD DRAMATIC SOCIETY PRODUCTION OF MACBETH (still can't get over that long title) is coming next weekend. The above photo (of one of the witches) was taken during one of our rehearsals. It's just to show you guys a peep at what you'll be getting yourselves into. Of course, expect things to look better.

Description Of TDLGDSP of Macbeth

OF COURSE, IT'S WHAT YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR, a description of the play. Mind you, this play is not the actual Macbeth play but a group of amateurs trying to perform Macbeth.

Genre: Comedy

It is a classic story about a group of ladies who attempt to stage Macbeth as their entry for a Drama Competition. The heavens conspire to ensure everything possible goes wrong, with series of mishaps occurring. But the valiant ladies struggle on regardless, though no one is quite good enough to save the day.
