When Cameras Collide

I WAS JUST browsing through all my RSS feeds (I know I could've used that to update my pages but I like to scout for news - especially after this morning's event) and earlier this afternoon, I just added R2No's blog to the feed (and linked it here if you haven't noticed). He is a blogger and a photographer too - and from what I've seen of his work thus far (if an hour of going through his blog counts), his shots look good.

Anyway, so the first Maulud Nabi photos caught my eye on his page. I scrolled down, loving the photos he took of this morning, and then, one photo caught my eye. A familiar looking man in blue cara melayu was in the middle of a crowd, with this weird looking facial expression while taking a shot of His Majesty The Sultan. Then, it hit me! That fabulous dude is me!!

And so I would like to say to R2No thank you for leaving a message here. If it wasn't for that, I would have never found that photo of me. Yes, I love looking for my photos on other people's websites. =)

Okay, time to process my shots!

PS: I didn't get to go to the Japanese ship at Muara. I fell asleep.

Work Slash Entertainment Setup

I MENTIONED in the last post about my work/entertainment setup. Just thought I'd post it here too and link it to my multiply page since this place is lacking the updates like all my other pages.

So here, just to fill in the empty space. Go that page to read the description. =)

Celebrating The Prophet's Birthday

BUSY WEEK. Busy days. Had lots of things to do, mostly with work. Four days of Netball tournament and a workshop in between. I haven't really managed to update anything much but I did however upload my current work/entertainment setup at home on my multiply.

There are a lot of photos that need to be uploaded. I went to Pulau Berambang again the other day with mofo, took more pictures there. There's the netball photos and also this morning's Maulud Nabi celebration.

I'll see if I can process those quickly. This afternoon I might go off to this Japanese ship currently docking at the Muara port, but that all depends on if I get enough rest after this.

Anyway, hope you have a good Saturday (what do you really say during Maulud Nabi? Not happy Maulud?)

SMAS End of 1st Term

HERE's TO PROMOTE photos I just uploaded onto my Sekolah Menengah Awang Semaun's multiply page. I just finished uploading 300plus photos from SMAS's end of 1st term event filled with prize presentations, traditional dances and a performance by SMAS's own local band. It was a great day, over 500 shots were taken but I managed to filter those down to 300 (This! Is! Spartaaaaagghh!! Can't help it =D).

Anyway, go here to view all the albums. There is this album I dubbed Red Carpet that you should check out where I waited for teachers and students at the entrance before they came into the hall. That was fun. Teachers and students stopped and posed in front of the camera just like the Grammy's or MTV music video/movie awards.

Great day. Lots of smiles.

Return of The Bruneian

Y'KNOW WHAT's the best part about owning your own domain and space? The freedom of including things on your website such as your own gallery, forum, nude photos of yourself perhaps (whatever you fancy) and removing annoying ads (or include ads of your choice to make money). Hell, even your own layout. Me? I'm a cheapskate and I'm super-lazy (well not all the time), so I can only admire those who own their own domain and space.

Brunei Forever is one of those sites that has its own gallery and forum. Lately I have been going to the forum a lot - less contributing, more scouting for news. Heck, you can join in and be a part of the community yourself. Brunei Forever also offers a free gallery for the public (if the webmaster is reading this, I am promoting your site - so you owe me one!).

Anyway, Bruneian (that's what I call the webmaster), just got back with a desktop (lucky fella), talked a bit about his desktop and his change to Adobe Lightroom (which is superb btw) and posted a new photo from his Jenny M. Ali wedding series. He goes on to say "[...] I owe 6 pictures. To make it up, I am going to upload double the amount that I promised by this week." We'll be watching Bruneian. We will. So far, only one. =)

Go here (or click on the photo) to see that post and any related photos to that wedding.

On a side note, I was talking to Bruneian lastnight, discussing on a possible monkey hunting outing (hey, that sounds kinda cool). We might be getting our round and flat (hey! not everyone's perfect) asses on a boat with cameras in hand and go off shooting Proboscis Monkey April 1st, with the cameras ofcourse. More info on that once I gather enough. Check out Brunei Forever forum here for further updates.

That Shahbandar

UPDATED MY PHOTOBLOG finally! After that last post, you'd think I update it on a daily basis. But alas, that is not the case. The thing with my photoblog is that I upload my hi-res photos, 3megs minimum each - but it doesn't take that long to upload one photo. Then again, I rarely upload a single photo.

Anyway, I've finally managed to post my Shahbandar photos there on two different posts, Kids At Recreation and plain Shahbandar.

Besides photoblog, you can find the low-res photos at Tanah Air Ku dubbed Bukit Shahbandar. Enjoy your Friday!

My Lazy Choice

THERE ARE a heck of a lot of websites out there that offers a lot of ways to post your pictures online and show them to others via albums and galleries. Some of you even use a blog to show your photos. As much as I love multiply, it doesn't really portray fully how great a photo can be. There's also deviantart, a great place to learn and show off, but still not enough for me. Wassup with all these free stuff? Because I'm a cheapskate and I am lazy. I want things done for me. So enter photoblog. My favourite of them all.

Y'know what I love about photoblog? A lot. It combines your blogging and your photo galleries. It shows your photos in one page without having to clutter all 10 latest posts on the front page (a hell for people who upload a lot of photos on their blogs). It shows ALL your photos /(with a limit ofcourse) you post on that day on one page on hi-res without slowing down your connection! Plus, you can use AJAX to view a higher resolution of that photo by clicking on it! And best of all, you can leave comments on different parts of a photo, especially great for art photography.

I know that most of you must already have your own online gallery, but I'm just here to clear all the questions I've been asked on why I keep my photoblog. Simple, it's great!

Then again, it's not like it doesn't come with flaws - but I'll keep that for another day.

Digging Up Old Pix

HIS WEBSITE frustrates me. I have to say I am not a fan of that website. Not only does it lack RSS of which oh-I-love-so-much, he also doesn't have a permanent link to each post! Imagine how annoyed I got when I clicked on the title of the post and nothing happened. Maybe, it's the fact that I am using firefox and he has this retarded warning that says:

This website is best viewed with:
.1024x768pixel resolution
Internet Explorer allergic to Firefox, sorry to all firefox users :)
Maybe that's why. Maybe because I am using firefox and he just wants to annoy the retards out of me. Hell, there is no way I'm surfing with IE. That stupid browser is useless to me.

You have any idea whose site I'm talking about? If you always surf around reading everyone's blog, I'm sure you do. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it is Yasien Studio.

BUT despite that, there is one good thing about the site - him promoting last year's UBD graduation photos. Because I can't link to the exact post, I can direct you here. Thank God for tags and labels.

Now Yasien! If you are reading this, pleeeease! RSS and permanent links! Thank you!

PS: No hard feelings =)

Charcoal, your take?

I'VE GOT THOUSANDS of photos in my hard disk that I have yet to post on my photoblog and deviantart. I haven't really had the time to do that but I have managed to post most of the photos I have been meaning to upload on multiply. Check out my multiply albums for those. Nothing fancy of course. Just unedited, a bit relaxing everyday photos.

I've also just updated Tanah Air Ku with a latest Your Take post, this time asking you guys about your opinion on Charcoal (not the coal). So look for that at the site, vote and leave your comments behind.

A Big Day for Aku

THIS IS A BIG DAY FOR SHUTTER SPEECH, but coincidentally, this isn't just a big day for the new life of this blog. Everyday we celebrate new life. Be it those who are already born or those who are just starting to breathe in their first few polluted fresh air of today's world.

Besides celebrating the launching of Shutter Speech, let us also celebrate the birthday of a fellow blogger. Who is he? Some may know him by the name mofo or mofoster, others by aku. He is also the owner of the now popular domain WithAku.com. His real name though is Mr Black, named after his round big black ass the colour of his hair.

I present to you, ladies and gentlemen, our birthday boy, mofoster.
Go forth to his website, and wish him so.

PS: That last photo in the collage is a tribute to the birthday boy. He loves these kinds of things.

First Shot

WITH THE AMOUNT OF ONLINE SPACES I HAVE, what with my photoblog, my multiply page and tanah air ku, all related to photography, I thought I'd re-open my blogger account and create one place where I could easily list out all the things I've updated on those pages and provide direct links to them. Plus, blogging is cool and blogger is easy to use. Also, RSS on blogger rocks!

This place will not only serve as a place for my updates. With the amount of the ever increasing photo-bloggers in Brunei, I'll also be writing about any interesting updates I can find by these bloggers. Thus is why this place is named shutter speech (it's a play of shutter speed if you haven't realised that yet). Btw, if you are interested in helping to contribute writing in this blog, you are free to do so. You just need a blogger account.

I've got the bloggers RSS, and I check my RSS daily, if I haven't got yours, and if they're linked to anyone of theirs, soon I'll talk about yours too. Linking to their pages wouldn't be so hard.

So here's to the hope that I will be able to at least update this blog easily.

PS: I'll also try to add in news of any digital camera related news whenever I have the time.
